creative mindshare >>
Some things on the net are so appropriate to the medium of the net and this is one of those things. Of course, pre-internet, creative people were getting together to
make art with one another and to talk about it. Now, for those of us with internet access, this process can occur so easily, quickly and without restrictions around travel
and time. In addition to instantaneous communication, the web enables a populist creative spirit, whereby old models of creative genius working alone, carefully
guarding personal creations, become less likely. Now you get a bunch of engineer-artists, downloading and uploading tweaked bits of code and pixels, in an arena
where copyrights are the weapons of dinosaurs who think that they might own what is virtual anyway. There is little that can't be taken from the web and artists who
recognize this as an opportunity are creating new models for open exchange.
