10,000+ images a day

Inside the Mark Amerika Intermedia Studio, the artist is surrounded by an artistic force of AI assistants that work with the artist in collaboratively producing over 10,000 images a day. Working from the depths of the artist’s creative unconscious and machine-learned psychic automatism, the images materialize as part of an ongoing and improvisational call-and-response feedback system.

This simultaneous and continuous “meta-jam” session generates new forms of art across the intermedia spectrum. In addition to generating thousands of artistically manipulated images a day, Amerika challenges his AI assistants to experiment in the creation of language art and uses the machine-learned outputs to investigate creativity across the human-nonhuman spectrum. What ensues is a live remix performance between two actual entities, the language artist and the language model, both of whom continually alter the plasticity of each other’s neural networks.

The outcomes of this fine-tuned creative process will be unveiled in Amerika’s forthcoming book, My Life as an Artificial Creative Intelligence to be published in May 2022 with Stanford University Press.

Inside the studio, when all of the bodies and all of the machines go into overload and need to cool down, even the AI assistants need to take a break and have to stand up and stretch out.

The image above, from a work titled Inside the Studio (Striking a Pose), is part of Amerika’s new body of work that will soon be available on the various NFT platforms Amerika mints his work on including H=N, OpenSea, Foundation and Postmasters Blockchain.
