[Intro] Opus ("Open Platform for Unlimited Signification") aims to become a Digital
Commons for artists on the net. It is a community space in which members are
invited to post whatever they would like (graphics, audio, video, code,
opinion, etc) for others to participate in, however they might like, similar to
open source code software. "You can view and download material, transform it
and then upload the material worked on by you back to the Opus domain. Each
media object archived, exhibited and made available for transformation within
Opus carries with it data that can identify all those who have worked on it."
Thus, although Opus is collaborative in nature, authorship of one’s work is
preserved.
