[Profile] John F. Simon's artwork investigates the possibilities and limitations of
automation in image creation. Using pogramming language (Java Applets, CGI
scripts, or C programs) as an activated extension of written language, his
software produces visual imagery for online websites and offline prints. His
artwork exploits the computer's ability to iterate possibilities. Simon has
consulted on website projects such as The Sandra Gering Gallery Online, ada
'web, The Thing and The Dia Center for the Arts. He was also a faculty member
and systems administrator for the graduate Computer Art department at the School
of Visual Arts (New York), and holds an MFA degree from SVA and a Masters degree
in Earth and Planetary Sciences from Washington University. John lives in New
York City with his wife, Elizabeth. |
