[Intro] Artist/programmer Maciej Wisniewski?s Netomat "is a meta-browser that engages a different Internet - an Internet that is an intelligent application and not simply a large database of static files." When users download Netomat to their PCs and use it to navigate the web, a new browser paradigm is immediately presented to us and now we can no longer take the Web for granted. Wisniewski pushes us to re-evaluate the Web Body, to investigate how it behaves and what is its ultimate function. In a sense, Netomat is creating a new media language to approximate a part of our world that we generally view in a much more static and predictable context. Just as it would be hard for a lawyer to really talk about the judicial system without incorporating the language of law into their rhetoric, Netomat creates a visual language based on the context of the medium of the net and in so doing invents a new kind of digital rhetoric.
