[Intro] In "The Meaning of Life as Expressed in Seven Lines of Code," artist Maciej
Wisniewski, samples random locations at random times around the world to
compute the amount of sunlight in shades of gray at that time and place. By
accurate visual estimation of this information, this work is a "living
clock/sundial of sort where time elapses, geography stretches and history
digresses." Connections are made; the color of early evening in Lagos on July
17, 1994 is the same as on the evening of August 3, 1953 in Lisbon. The
information is portrayed as if the world globe has been flattened into zones.
Looking at it, things are reduced to the simple. We wake up and we go to bed
and time is kept by our machines. To learn the meaning of life, read the code.
