All Your
Base Are Belong To Us |
|
Created by a team of artists, the All Your Base Are Belong To Us animation was inspired by a poorly translated japanese game titled 'Zero Wing' and the Invasion of the Gabber Robots song performed by The Laziest Men on Mars. A sound file was created based on the game utilizing key phrases from the translations such as 'All your base are belong to us', 'take off every zig for great justice', and 'you have no chance to survive make your time.' Along with this catchy sound file, the animation incorporates a multitude of images featuring these phrases that change in sync to the music. The animation grew into an internet phenomenon and searches for the phrase went from a few to a few thousand per day on many search engines and file servers. Its popularity has grown to such immense proportions that it has even transcended the web into the physical world. Products from coffee mugs to tee shirts are sold bearing the phrase 'All Your Base Are Belong to Us' and major companies sneak the phrase into product designs, advertisements and office decor. Vincent O'Keeffe of allyourbrand.org even set up his site as a pre-emptive hijack of the meme and all of its potential marketing uses. You have no chance to survive, make your time... |
