BODYDROME by Marcello Mazzella

"One of the easiest ways to move ourselves physically and virtually
is now via eletronics due to advanced technological resources. The
human body is no longer limited to a small, constricted space but
has become a "planetary body" without limitations."
Mazzella's piece
puts the viewer in the cockpit of the human body and and allows
them to interact with several different sketches that illustrate the
process of metamorphoses that occurs in humans through the
use of and interactions with technology. Bodydrome uses simple
graphical interfaces that spawn from the main airport body
terminal to choose between eight different destinations through the
different "gates": DJ Interactive; Destination Planet Body; Genetic
Modification; Turbulence; Cloned; Spiritual Ports; Random
Transformation; and Safe Instructions. The vagueness of the interactive
levels allows the viewer to create their own interpretaions of what
the meaning of the "planetary body" may be to them. Mazzella
believe's that "It is not about finding the moral, what is right or wrong,
but instead, becoming an explorer, in search of something new,
something that can give us another view and perspective of self."
The progress of human transportation and self exploration can only
be achieved through the continued exploration of science and
digital technolgy.
